The management team at the West Covina store @ Eastland shopping center needs to be investigated for slander, discrimination, deleting tardies on themselves, deformation of character along with belittling they're staff. Angela Anderson is horrible. Diane is lazy and she liked about being late and corected her start time. With the exception of Jordan, the rest are unprofessional

I was going to write a complaint, but #1 I can see other people have more serious problems with your company and, #2 I can see you don't care.

Hello. I bought an F-63 model tredmill last Saturday, 1/27 at Dicks. I got the tredmill home and was able to use it that night but the next morning it was showing an E5 message. I tried to contact customer service that day and due to it being a Sunday I was unable to reach anyone on your customer service line. I did reach someone on your Facebook page who told me to call the service number and push option 3 which I did and was on hold for two hours before I hung up. I called Monday morning and was told that no one was there and I would have been on hold all night. I was told that the parts would be mailed out and I should then contact the service number to schedule someone to come to fix it. I received the parts today and was told that the next available appointment is for February 15. This is very upsetting to me. I paid a lot of money for your product and will not be able to use it for 3 weeks after the original purchase date. I wanted to contact you first before I put a negative review on your site as well as Sole. I would like to be compensated in some way for this inconvenience. I would like a response as soon as possible. Thank you. Michelle Florio.

There once was a mighty powerful retailer called SEARS that was a household name. With great anticipation, shoppers tore into the Sunday paper to retrieve the coveted weekly Sears Circular with all its glossy pictures and claims of huge markdowns and sales events. The US retail customer base is often easily fooled in the short term but over time people started noticing trends where those coveted SEARS sales were not really sales at all and the advertised sale prices were really close to or in many cases the everyday selling price across the retail spectrum. When an item was actually marked down it was because it was not selling because the item was not desirable. SEARS, once the "KING" of retailers, is now bankrupt for all practical purposes. Fast forward to Dick's Sporting Goods. Every day or two my email is pounded with flashy hyped sales adds from Dick's Sporting Goods. At first I looked forward to getting those adds but over time through long term practical experience of following up on those adds I have found very few desirable items to really be on sale when compared to other retailers regular prices. This is especially true with fishing gear which is my game. More often than not Dick's flashy sale prices are little if any better than the prices at fishing mega stores like Bass Pro and Cabelas, both of which incur the huge expense of in store stocking the "entire" line of virtually all the major manufactures and who pay higher salaries to attract sales staff who are experts in the sport who have tested the products in real world practical applications. When shopping with them the customer gets to see, touch and feel the actual product and get professional advice. Personally I am OK with the fact that Dick's Sporting Goods chooses NOT to incur the huge inventory holding costs or incur the costs associated with an expert sales staff..... BUT..... in the end its the consumer who ends up making a less informed purchase because of the cost saving measures and therefore a significant portion of the cost savings SHOULD be passed on to the consumers via "real" sales on high end popular items and lower overall prices on same......BUT...... long term price comparisons indicate this is NOT happening. Walmart stocks what it stocks and pays lower wages BUT long term price comparisons show they are significantly cheaper than most retailers. Dick's Sporting Goods has a similar model but your prices are NOT significantly cheaper than other retailers and the majority of the items featured in your sales adds are not cheaper than other retailer's prices. This model is working well at the moment as did SEARS model because you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. I can't speak to the athletic sports customers but the fishing community is catching (pardon the pun) on and there is an ever increasing common theme coming up about Dicks when fishermen discuss where they buy their gear.

Thanks for your time,

Tom

Called Lafayette LA DICKS and spoke to manager Mike who hung up on me. Customer support is dead in corporate America. Find a Mom & Pop and support them.

I like Dick's. So much so that I went thru all the aggravation of applying for a PT job online about 3 different times only to find myself still receiving emails 6 months to a year later, about job openings for the positions I had applied for. Very disappointing to me. Could it be possible Age discrimination, which is against the law, because their thought process might be to hire someone younger, who's not going to stay, over someone older, with experience, who will? I guess we won't know since I was never even contacted for an interview. After reading some other reviews, maybe it's a good thing.

While I can appreciate cutting back on staffing, I was just in the Dicks store in West Nyack. There was 1 guy who was handling the sneaker area. I wanted to but a pair of Air Max. I wanted 10 minutes. Couldn't find anyone and there were 3 people in front of me. While the sneakers were only $180 plus tax, I will think twice before returning.

What I want to know is what happened to their competitor and the other sporting good store and where are they at a time like this? I can't believe this company like has practically a "monopoly" in the industry now that I started trying to search for sports equipment on Amazon.com.

This is one place that I would not recommend applying to for a job. The store that I work at Fayetteville NC is very unprofessional. They are cutting hours and changing schedules in the middle of the week. But what makes it worse, they don't bother contacting you to let you know about the schedule change. Then, you show up for work and they send you home with no compensation for the wasted trip to the store. I haven't experienced it but I have heard several people complaining of favoritism being paid to certain individuals. They have department leads that have no clue what they are doing. The store is poorly stocked. 80% of the stock pegs in the department where I work are either empty or only has 1 item on it. The local Gander Outdoors is getting ready to open back up and they are paying $2.20 more and hour and they offer benefits to part time associates to include insurance and PTO. If you take the time to read the other reviews listed below, none of them are positive. So, there must be issues corporate wide with how this company is being managed. I know they have many issues with the Fayetteville store. This store is ran by a bunch of one 'D', ten 't's' (IDIOTS).

My name is Lou Wynants. About one month ago, I was offered a position with your company (via email). I accepted the position (via email) and submitted all of the I-9 forms (copies of the offer, acceptance and I-9 submittal is attached). After waiting about a week with no contact from the store (#3067), I called them and asked to speak to the manager. The rep who answered told me he was in a meeting, so I asked her to interrupt the meeting and inform him (or her) that I had accepted the offer and filed all of the necessary online I-9 forms. The rep came back on the line and told me that the manager said they needed to pursue an employee number for me and then I would be contacted about working hours.

I was not contacted by the store for the rest of the month or over the Christmas/New Year holidays. Immediately after the holidays, I again called the store and asked to speak to the manager (they told me his name was Peter, they did not tell me his last name). When Peter answered, he did not know who I was until I told him about the job position the company had offered me. He then indicated that he had contacted me a week earlier (by phone not email) and heard nothing back from me. He also stated that there were no current records of me in the company's system and therefore there was really no opening.

I was of course dumbfounded. I told him that I had copies of the job offer, the acceptance and the I-9 forms. He then indicated that he had been on emergency family leave for the past couple of weeks so some things might have slipped past him. I told him I would contact your corporate office, but he said no, he would take care of that. I asked him if he would be considerate enough to contact me back the next day with some answers. He said he would.

It's been over a week since that conversation and I have still have had no contact from the store. I was really excited about working for your company, however, it appears that might not happen. I cannot believe an organization of your stature would treat potential employees in this fashion so that is why I decided to send this message to your corporate entity. Your store manager is apparently not interested in my employment and that is okay. His conflicting statements, however (that he contacted me a week earlier... while he was on emergency leave?) doesn't ring true. I checked my phone log for the last 30 days and there is absolutely no contact (verbal or written) from him or the store. Also, to believe his statement that all of my forms and records disappeared from your system just doesn't seem possible.

In short, some simply courtesy from him or the store (like a written notice or some form of contact) doesn't seem too much to ask. I would like to know if I have a job or not (dismissing or ignoring people really doesn't seem like very good policy).

Yours truly,

Lou Wynants

The way every company is doing only online applications is a headache including your business, I tried to apply for a job at one of your locations in Pace Florida an I can't apply because of errors saying my phone number is not right which my number is correct. What ever happened to paper applications much easier to get things going in my opinion. I really need to get a job going and online applications is stopping me from doing so.
